Burnt End, also known as meat candy, is a classic BBQ recipe. This recipe is made with chuck roast to keep it budget-friendly without compromising the taste!
In a sauce pot, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, Country Bob’s BBQ Sauce, garlic powder, cracked black pepper, red pepper flakes, brown sugar, and honey. Bring pot to a low simmer while you prepare the chuck roast. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, then cover and turn heat off.
Season the chuck roast with olive oil, salt, and pepper. If using a Dutch oven or the sauté function in an Instant Pot, sear both sides of the chuck roast until browned, about 4-5 minutes.
Once the roast has completed cooking, remove and cut into cubes. Toss these cubes in the Asian BBQ sauce you made earlier. Toss the sauced cubes back in the oven or smoker at high heat (450°F) until the sauce caramelizes. You can re-sauce the cubes and repeat this process for a stickier result.
Once complete, garnish with sesame seeds and diced Fresno chilies.
